BIO-MICRO-GRADE
Bio-Derived Microbial-Fabricated Biochar/MOF Electrodes and Dual-Ion Biopolymer Electrolytes for Sustainable Battery-Grade Materials
Project Overview
BIO-MICRO-GRADE is a European collaborative research proposal focused on developing a new generation of sustainable, bio-derived materials for solid-state energy storage.
The project combines advanced bio-derived materials, solid-state energy-storage technologies, computational modelling and Artificial Intelligence to develop safer and more sustainable battery-grade materials.
Its multidisciplinary approach brings together materials science, polymer chemistry, microbiology, electrochemistry, digital modelling and AI to progress from scientific proof of concept towards laboratory-scale prototype validation.
Scientific Ambition
BIO-MICRO-GRADE explores how renewable biological resources can be transformed into advanced functional materials for next-generation energy storage.
The project combines sustainable material design with digital technologies to accelerate experimentation, understand material behaviour and support the development of laboratory-scale solid-state prototypes.
The ambition is to contribute to safer, lower-impact and more sustainable energy-storage technologies while strengthening European research and innovation in advanced battery materials.
